I’m not eating enough?

May 31, 2007 Leave a comment
The DS’s best friend is a fitness model and physical trainer. She’s offered to set me up in a workout routine and as part of that, she looked at my dietary habits.
I gave her a list of what I ate last week and she told me that I’m not consuming enough calories (or enough protein). That’s good news! Bring on the food!
But she also said I have to remove the pop, jam and juice. And she implied that those were just the little changes to get me started for now and that things would get worse… eep!

Plastic surgery.

I really hate those plastic wraps they put CDs in. Do they really need to be that hard to get off the CD? Although really, I can’t complain because the  DS’s new job gets her all kinds of free CDs so if I have to do a little extra work unpackaging them, I’m still ahead in the long run.
Now if I can only figure out how to get my WMP to rip them without skips.
Oh – and I did try some of that nasty tea this morning. It was not good. Not as bad as I was expecting, but still not good.

Third blog today!

May 23, 2007 2 comments
I know I’ve blogged three times today. Maybe I should ration them out?
Anyway, the DS started her new job last week. The woman who had the desk before her left a Creative Zen Micro MP3 player in it. The MP3 player was a gift from the company (all employees seem to have gotten one). They told the DS she could have it.
The DS already has an MP3 player that she quite likes so she asked if I wanted this one. As it turns out, I was looking into getting that exact brand for myself so a free one is awesome! As you know, I rather like free.
The problem came when I went to install the software on my computer. It’s not compatible with Vista (of course!) and there is no update to the software that allows it to be compatible. So I can’t use it.
How long has Vista been out? What kind of company doesn’t upgrade their software to be compatible with the newest Microsoft Operating System? That seems like a bad business decision.
I will keep searching. Surely there’s a patch somewhere that will solve this problem. If not, I will be calling Bill Gates.

Wedding Pics

A co-worker got married on the weekend. It was a hindu ceremony. I even attended a mehndi party on the Thursday and got some henna on my hand. I’m so pretty now.
Anyway, it was very fun and beautiful and at many points in the ceremony, guests threw money at the couple. Makes me kind of sad that I’m caucasian. No one ever throws money at me.
Here are some photos. You’ll see that some of my co-workers are in traditional dress for the event.

ooh nasty.

I went to my doctor for my annual checkup yesterday. She suggested I try "marshmallow root tea" as an herbal remedy for the issues I’m having that require me to see a urologist.
Marshmallow root tea look like wood chips. I was skeptical. The DS and I brewed a stewing pot full of the stuff for an hour and my place smelled mildly like the incense that is used at catholic funerals. When it was warm, it was very nasty smelling and I couldn’t imagine actually drinking it. So I put it in the fridge. I have about 3 or 4 litres of the stuff.
I’m kind of scared to drink it. But when I do, I’ll let you know.
Also, the DS and I have been attending the Inside Out film festival (it’s a gay & lesbian festival). We have 9 movies to watch in 8 days. The DS actually has a couple extra to watch on days that I have other events like hockey. So that’s a lot of movie watching.
So far, we had seen three films – all pretty bad. One may have been good, but it was in Spanish and the subtitles were not written by anyone who actually spoke english. I’m guessing it was a computer generated translation. Last night however, we saw "the King and the Clown" from Korea. It was subtitled, but by someone who was fluent in English. It was very good. I would recommend it if it ever comes out anywhere commercially.
Only five movies to go. And let me tell you, those theatre seats are NOT comfortable.

The DS keeps trying to stick things up my nose. Is that normal?

The $12 haircut.

May 11, 2007 Leave a comment
My hair has been getting very long. My bangs are almost past my eyebrows. I’m about 2 weeks late in getting it cut and because I have Thursday plans (Thursday is the only day my stylist is open late), I wouldn’t be able to get it cut for about two more weeks. It stresses me out.
So on Wednesday, I was driving home and on the way, I had to drop off a dvd at Rogers Video. In the same strip mall is a First Choice hair salon. I struggled mentally: should I risk a $12 haircut? The DS is very particular about my hair. She likes it all studly and not too short. But the long hair was driving me absolutely nutty. What to do, what to do?
I got the $12 haircut. Took 10 minutes. Of course, the first thing the stylist says is "you have a lot of grey – you should colour that". No way! Every grey hair is a marker designating the anxiety I suffer from dating high maintenance femmes he he.
I was satisfied with the cut, but would it pass the DS test?
She saw it yesterday night. She approves! I think one of my grey hairs just turned black again…
