I need to buy a new car. I’m looking at the small, fuel efficient, cute, car range. Cars I have been considering include:

Nissan Versa
Toyota Yaris
Hyundai Elantra
Honda Civic
Mini Cooper
SMART car

You get the picture If anyone has any advice about such cars or experience, let me know.

Good news, good news and bad news.

Good 1: I had my hockey banquet on Friday. Despite my GAA of 4 or 5 (when it gets that high, you just stop counting), I won the goalie of the year award! So I suppose those 20 lbs I gained this summer didn’t affect me that badly… or it made me bigger in the net so fewer balls went in…

Good 2: My ROTC group went to the Brighton Applefest Parade on Saturday. Very small town but they seemed to love us. Several people came by to congratulate us after. One woman even said, "When I saw you coming down the street I knew you had to be from Toronto. We don’t have anything that exciting here." And the judge’s boyfriend came up to us as we were leaving and told us that we are getting an award of some sort.

Bad 1: I parked in the ‘hood for our open house on Sunday. I went to the Green P parking thing, stuck my mastercard in and bought a parking stub. Sadly, instead of putting the proof of purchase on my dashboard, I put it in my pocket, where it was safe, but not visible to the parking officer who gave me a $30 ticket. 😦

Interesting things my IT guy told me.

yesterday at work i weighed myself. it appears that i’ve gained 20lbs this summer. this is NOT good.

so i watched ‘the biggest loser’ reality show yesterday. well, most of it. i’ve been recovering from a cold so i fell asleep at 9:15 pm. anyway, i thought i’d get some good tips from the show, but they seem to be hawking products now. the enriched instant oatmeal seems big to these people. i’m not sure how i feel about that. i want real help, not product placement. the show’s theme music is inspiring though.

tonight i’m watching the season premier of ‘grey’s anatomy’.  i don’t think there will be product placement but sandra oh is cute. do you think tonight’s episode will make me cry?

Yeah I watched Survivor.

I did watch Survivor even though I hate watching things with a lot of hype. My comments:

1. That was cool the way cao boi cured his teammate’s headache. He’s like a walking talking bottle of advil.

2. There is an excellent and hilarious commentary on the episode in today’s Toronto Star. Go read it online. It will make you smile.

3. Becky is hot. I went to the Survivor website (no, I’m not a geeky stalker fan – they used to have a feature where past survivors blogged about what they thought of the current episodes and I found them entertaining) and looked Becky up while I was there. She’s a fascinating woman. And she plays Scrabble. I have decided I want her to win, which means of course, she won’t.

And now I’m totally bored in my hotel room so I’m going to the airport so I can at least be bored with a cup of Starbucks chai tea. (And unlike Toronto Terminal 3, the Phoenix Sky Harbour airport has free wireless internet.)

Typical femme.

The DS is particular about what I eat. When I left for the airport, I was told in no uncertain terms that I was not to eat at McDonald’s at the Chicago airport. I was to find something healthy.

She then quizzed me on  my breakfast choices this morning at the hotel.

And I am not the least bit annoyed about this. She obviously cares about my health and well-being. (I am sure she just wants me to live a long healthy life so she can torture me as long as humanly possible… damned gemini femmes!)

At least I’m normally pleased that she is trying to keep me on the straight and narrow with respect to what I put into my body. That is until today, while I was in line at the checkout purchasing $10 worth of cookies the DS asked me to buy and bring back to Canada for her.

<Aside 1: The cookies in question are Nutter Butter and Chocolate Covered Mint Oreos. And, yes, I’m declaring them on my customs card.>
<Aside 2: Yes, I also brought some back for you Stella and Basket of Kittens.>

and I’m sure you’ll be relieved to know…

There is some kind of election going on here. They are posting the results as they come in on top of Dancing with the Stars. Apparently, they voted in favour of allowing lap dances at the strip bars. Narrow margin 40-something percent to 50-something percent though. I bet the strippers were biting their fake nails waiting for those results.
