I love a parade.

Our first ROTC parade was very fun. It was in Welland on Sunday. The weather was great, I didn’t drop my flag and no one shouted homophobic slurs at us! What more could you ask for?
The parade itself was less than an hour and my stamina was good and I could have gone for another hour for sure. (I guess I should thank the DS, but I will thank her only begrudgingly…).
People were clapping and cheering and were very supportive. This lovely elderly couple stopped at our table at the Boston Pizza after to thank us, tell us how much they enjoyed us and to say we deserved a free meal (we didn’t get one though…).
I am looking forward to the Brampton parade on Saturday, but not the Oshawa one on Sunday. Apparently the Oshawa parade cuts through a trailer park mentality area where people sit on their lawns with beer at hand, yelling homophobic things at us. Someone should tell them that the flags may be pretty when twirled, but they also make handy weapons – just ask the camera man at the Brampton Santa Claus parade…

hmm – currently there is not. however, the DS and i will be happy to grab a flag, put on a CD and twirl for you. we\’ll even put on our uniform. well, i will. i\’ll have to ask the DS what she\’s willing to do for you. after all, you ARE strangers.
and i do have a hockey game on the 13th, if you\’re so inclined.
and will you like to stay with me during that time or is work putting you up somewhere? if you need a place, i have moved the guest bedroom upstairs so it\’s very civilized now.
